The Georgia Department of Wildlife is the state agency responsible for wildlife conservation, wildlife protection, habitat management, information & education in Georgia.

The primary duties of the Georgia Department of Wildlife is:

  • To manage and protect wildlife in Georgia
  • To manage wildlife habitat
  • To educate the public on wildlife and safe hunting practices
  • Set hunting and fishing seasons and creel limits
  • Issuing hunting and fishing licenses
  • Set hunting & fishing regulations in Georgia
  • Conduct tests for wildlife disease
  • Animal Reintroduction
