The Kentucky Office of Employment and Training is part of the Department of Workforce Investment provides job services, unemployment insurance services, Labor Market Information, and training opportunities for the residents of Kentucky.

The Kentucky OET offers job services that match available workers with employers who need their skills and experience. They also administer unemployment insurance which provides short term benefits for those who are unemployed through no fault of their own. The Kentucky OET also provides labor market info which contains a wide range of statistical data on employment and wage patterns. You can also receive job training which is available through the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) for Adult Dislocated Worker and Youth who meet certain eligibility criteria.

If applying for Unemployment via the KEWES.KY.Gov site you simply need to follow this steps on the OET website:

  1. Go to the Kentucky Office of Employment and Training website.
  2. Click “Unemployment Benefits-Internet Claim Filing”.
  3. Create a new user account via the “New User” section.
  4. Enter all the required personal information being requested to create you new account.
  5. Follow instructions to complete the registration and online filing process.
