Welcome!

The Industrial Commission is the state agency responsible for:

  • Regulating workers’ compensation activities in Idaho, including companies licensed to issue workers’ compensation policies.
  • Ensuring that employers have workers’ compensation coverage as required by law.
  • Settling disputes between injured workers, employers, and insurers.
  • Deciding appeals for unemployment decisions from the Idaho Department of Labor.
  • Assisting injured workers by supporting their medical recovery while facilitating a timely return to employment that is as close as possible to the worker’s pre-injury status and wage.
  • Providing compensation to innocent victims of crime through the Crime Victims Compensation Program.

 The Idaho Industrial Commission meets in regular session weekly at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesdays in the Owyhee Conference on the Chinden Campus except on holidays.

Public Comment
The Industrial Commission receives guidance from the Advisory Committee. The Advisory Committee welcomes public input and participation. Comments for the Advisory Committee should be submitted to Kamerron Slay at (208) 334-6017 or at commissionsecretary@iic.idaho.gov. Please include supporting documentation such as a statement of the problem, draft legislation, or other helpful information.

    In accordance with Governor Brad Little’s Executive Order 2020-01: Zero-Based Regulation (ZBR), the Industrial Commission will reduce regulatory burdens by removing costly, effective, or outdated regulations.

    Currently, the Industrial Commission is reexamining the Idaho Workers’ Compensation Administrative Rules: IDAPA 17.01.01- Administrative Rules Under the Worker’s Compensation Law,

    Members of the public may participate in person or virtually via Webex. The Industrial Commission will provide live streaming of the negotiated rulemaking meetings at designated locations.

    Public Comment
    The Commission is currently accepting written comments regarding the Industrial Commission’s rules. Written comments can be submitted to the Commission until August 1, 2024. Comments can be submitted to the Commission by emailing Kamerron Slay, Commission Secretary, at (208) 334-6017 or at commissionsecretary@iic.idaho.gov.

    Following the conclusion of negotiated rulemaking meetings, the Industrial Commission will hold two public hearings, tentatively scheduled for September 16 and October 2, 2024, at the Industrial Commission, 11351 W.     Annual Seminar on Workers’ Compensation – September 12, 2024

    The Industrial Commission will host the Annual Seminar on Workers’ Compensation Thursday September 12, 2024. Employers, attorneys, insurance professionals, rehabilitation counselors, medical providers and anyone interested in the Idaho workers’ compensation system will find valuable information at the Idaho Industrial Commission Annual Seminar on Workers’ Compensation. The conferences features workers’ compensation experts from across the industry discussing a variety of timely topics.

    ORDER RESCINDING EMERGENCY ORDERS: Effective March 29, 2023, the Idaho Industrial Commission deemed it appropriate to rescind its June 9, 2021, emergency order in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, except for the revisions to the Judicial Rules of Practice and Procedure (JRP) and the Rules of Appellate Practice and Procedure (RAPP) providing for e-filing shall remain in effect; which allows for Commission Referees to have the discretion of holding hearings remotely with the parties agreement.

    REMINDER: All EDI Claims trading partners and vendors required to test prior to the implementation of EDI Claims Release 3.1 effective September 14, 2023, should have already completed FROI testing and should be actively SROI testing at this time. Learn More
