The northern flicker (Colaptes auratus) is a member of the woodpecker family and the Northern Flicker is native to most of North America and is one of the few in the woodpecker family that migrate. The Northern Flicker can be found in open habitats near trees, such as woodlands, edges, yards, and parks. In the west they're mostly located in mountain forests. Northern flickers generally nest in holes in trees like other woodpeckers.  The Northern Flicker lives up to 9 years old.  Flickers go by many names but some of the most notable and widely used are:  yellowhammer, clape, gaffer woodpecker, harry-wicket, heigh-ho, wake-up, walk-up, wick-up,  and yarrup
