Minnesota State Flower: Pink and white lady's slipper

Scientific Name: Cypripedium reginae

State Flower Description: Pink and White Lady Slipper's are a very rare flower in Minnesota and described as an orchid. The pink and white lady slipper is only seen between late June and early July. The pink and white lady slipper grows very slowly taking anywhere between 4 and 16 years to produce their first flower.

Where It's Found: The pink and white lady slipper grows in calcareous wet lands, open wooded swamps, with tamarack and black spruce and is only found in the north east region of the United States and south east regions of Canada.
