Florida State Fish: Atlantic Sailfish (Saltwater)

Scientific Name: Istiophorus albicans

State Fish Description: The Atlantic Sailfish is the saltwater state fish of Florida which was dedicated in 2007. The Atlantic Sailfish is a sporting fish which grows up to 10 feet in length and around 126 lbs. The Atlantic Sailfish is closely related to the Marlin. It has a larger sail like dorsal fin, and pointed bill like nose, and a split V tail. It's color is mostly a silver with blueish back.

Where It's Found: The Atlantic Sailfish is found in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean around Florida and the Caribbean islands.
