Florida State Fish: Florida Largemouth Bass
Scientific Name: Micropterus salmoides
State Fish Description: The Florida Largemouth Bass is a basically a largemouth bass that generally grows a little larger only due to an extended growing season in Florida. The largemouth bass is a member of the sunfish family and is mostly green with a black line down it's side. A largemouth bass is easily identified by it's color and large mouth which in large fish can be as big as a softball. Largemouth bass vary in size from under 1lb in juveniles to over 10lbs on the large size.
Where It's Found: Largemouth Bass are found throughout North America freshwater lakes & rivers and can even be found in some brackish waters where salt and freshwater mix.
