Georgia State Flower: Cherokee Rose

Scientific Name: Rosa laevigata

State Flower Description: The Cherokee Rose is an invasive flower to the US which is native to southern China and Taiwan south to Laos and Vietnam. The flower is a brilliant white with 3 to 5 petals and a yellow center. The plant is a climbing shrub and climbs over other shrubs and plants. The flower gained popularity recently due to being featured in AMC's Walking Dead in an episode called "Cherokee Rose"

Where It's Found: The Cherokee Rose is found in the Southeastern states of the US and was introduced in 1790.
