Several states in the United States have designated Coats of Arm's that represent the state, Coats of Arm's generally represent a family, organization, or country in the past they would be often found on shields or identifiers of the family or organization. Generally they have a shield, supporters to the side, and a crest on top but not all Coat of Arms have these characteristics.
